Scholarship & Athletic Tryouts

The Johnny Mac Tennis Project, in partnership with the John McEnroe Tennis Academy, is seeking to identify and support the next generation of talented, motivated young athletes in the New York City area and beyond.

Scholarship Tryout: For Players with Tennis Experience

Date: Saturday, June 20, 2026
Who: Players with tennis experience
Location: SPORTIME Randall’s Island / John McEnroe Tennis Academy
Registration Deadline: Monday, June 15, 2026

Participants will be evaluated by the SPORTIME/JMTA/JMTP Selection Committee and coaching staff through technical, tactical, and athletic player assessments.

Athletic Combine: For Young Athletes with Little or No Tennis Experience

Date: Saturday, June 20, 2026
Who: Kids with little or no tennis experience who excel in other sports and/or demonstrate above-average athletic ability
Location: SPORTIME Randall’s Island / John McEnroe Tennis Academy
Registration Deadline: Monday, June 15, 2026

Participants will take part in physical tests and games designed to assess speed, strength, agility, hand-eye coordination, attitude, energy level, and competitive spirit.

JMTP Pro Am

Hosted by John and Patrick McEnroe, the JMTP Pro Am is the world’s largest tennis Pro Am, hosted on Saturday, August 22nd in the Hamptons at SPORTIME Amagansett. This signature event brings together tennis legends, touring professionals, and passionate amateurs for an unforgettable day of competition, connection, and purpose - all in support of JMTP’s mission to remove economic and social barriers to success through tennis.

Players compete in a fast-paced round-robin format alongside and against some of the sport’s most iconic names. Beyond the courts, guests enjoy a lively atmosphere complete with food and drinks, live and silent auctions, and special experiences that celebrate the spirit of tennis and community.

JMTP Comedy Night

JMTP Comedy Night is our annual spring fundraiser at Sony Hall Theater - where laughter meets purpose. Hosted by John and Patrick McEnroe, the evening is a celebration of comedy, community, and impact. Guests enjoy an unforgettable evening of entertainment, light bites and drinks, and exclusive auction experiences - knowing that every laugh helps expand access to free tennis programming, mentorship, and scholarship pathways for young athletes across New York City.

Community Day

JMTP’s Community Day celebrates the hundreds of students who participate in our year-round Community Program across New York City. Held at SPORTIME Randall’s Island, the event brings together hundreds of students for a day of tennis, teamwork, and discovery. Partner organizations focused on wellness, nutrition, creativity, and education join in to create interactive stations that make learning off the court as fun and inspiring as it is on the court.
JMTP x ITHF Pro Am

In partnership with the International Tennis Hall of Fame, JMTP hosted a special Pro Am weekend at Sportime Randall’s Island, uniting Hall of Famers, touring professionals, and rising stars. The event highlighted the shared mission of opportunities and access to tennis for the next generation.
JMTP Rally Night

Patrick McEnroe hosted a Hit Around clinic at SPORTIME Randall’s Island, bringing together new members of the JMTP community for an evening of tennis and connection. Guests had the chance to drill, rally, and experience the impact of our mission firsthand through a special video presentation. The event blended fun, purpose, and philanthropy - showcasing how tennis continues to unite and inspire our growing community.
Hit Around for Opportunity

JMTP’s Hit Around for Opportunity brought together supporters, players, and partners for an evening of tennis, pickleball, and community in celebration of Giving Tuesday. Held at SPORTIME Randall’s Island, the event invited supporters to rally with JMTP in support of expanding access to free year-round programming for NYC youth. Guests took part in on-court drills, doubles strategy sessions with Patrick McEnroe, interactive pickleball play, and a festive atmosphere complete with food, music, and raffle prizes. The event served as both a fundraiser and a reminder of the power of sport to open doors and create opportunity - every dollar raised helping more kids step onto a court and into a supportive community that believes in their potential.
