Signature Events

JMTP’s Community Day celebrates the hundreds of students who participate in our year-round Community Program across New York City. Held at SPORTIME Randall’s Island, the event brings together hundreds of students for a day of tennis, teamwork, and discovery. Partner organizations focused on wellness, nutrition, creativity, and education join in to create interactive stations that make learning off the court as fun and inspiring as it is on the court. 

Held annually during US Open finals weekend, the JMTP x ITHF Mac Challenge brings together Hall of Famers, touring professionals, and rising stars for a special Pro Am experience at SPORTIME Randall’s Island. In partnership with the International Tennis Hall of Fame, the event celebrates a shared commitment to expanding access to tennis and creating opportunities for the next generation.

JMTP Hit Arounds bring together supporters, friends, and members of our growing community for an engaging on-court experience in support of our mission. Hosted at Sportime Randall’s Island, these events offer participants the opportunity to play tennis, connect with fellow supporters over food and drinks, and experience the impact of JMTP firsthand.

From fundraising initiatives to special celebrations, each Hit Around brings a unique purpose to the court, combining tennis and community to help expand access to the sport for young people across New York City.

Each year, the Johnny Mac Tennis Project and John McEnroe Tennis Academy host an open scholarship tryout to identify talented, motivated young athletes who may not otherwise have access to elite training opportunities. Participants are evaluated by JMTA coaches and Directors through tennis, athletic, and competitive assessments, with selected players earning scholarships to train at the John McEnroe Tennis Academy (JMTA). For many of our scholarship players, this tryout is the first step in a pathway that can lead to high-level competition, college opportunities, and lifelong personal growth.
