Signature Events

JMTP’s Community Day celebrates the hundreds of students who participate in our year-round Community Program across New York City. Held at SPORTIME Randall’s Island, the event brings together hundreds of students for a day of tennis, teamwork, and discovery. Partner organizations focused on wellness, nutrition, creativity, and education join in to create interactive stations that make learning off the court as fun and inspiring as it is on the court. 

In partnership with the International Tennis Hall of Fame, JMTP hosted a special Pro Am weekend at Sportime Randall’s Island, uniting Hall of Famers, touring professionals, and rising stars. The event highlighted the shared mission of opportunities and access to tennis for the next generation. 

Patrick McEnroe hosted a Hit Around clinic at SPORTIME Randall’s Island, bringing together new members of the JMTP community for an evening of tennis and connection. Guests had the chance to drill, rally, and experience the impact of our mission firsthand through a special video presentation. The event blended fun, purpose, and philanthropy - showcasing how tennis continues to unite and inspire our growing community. 

JMTP’s Hit Around for Opportunity brought together supporters, players, and partners for an evening of tennis, pickleball, and community in celebration of Giving Tuesday. Held at SPORTIME Randall’s Island, the event invited supporters to rally with JMTP in support of expanding access to free year-round programming for NYC youth. Guests took part in on-court drills, doubles strategy sessions with Patrick McEnroe, interactive pickleball play, and a festive atmosphere complete with food, music, and raffle prizes. The event served as both a fundraiser and a reminder of the power of sport to open doors and create opportunity - every dollar raised helping more kids step onto a court and into a supportive community that believes in their potential.

Each year, the Johnny Mac Tennis Project and John McEnroe Tennis Academy host an open scholarship tryout to identify talented, motivated young athletes who may not otherwise have access to elite training opportunities. Participants are evaluated by JMTA coaches and Directors through tennis, athletic, and competitive assessments, with selected players earning scholarships to train at the John McEnroe Tennis Academy (JMTA). For many of our scholarship players, this tryout is the first step in a pathway that can lead to high-level competition, college opportunities, and lifelong personal growth.
