Founder and Director, JMTA/JMTP​

​​John McEnroe, one of the greatest tennis players of all time, has long dreamed of bringing the buzz back to American tennis. The native New Yorker held the world No. 1 ranking in singles for 170 weeks and in doubles for a record 257 weeks. He won seven Grand Slam singles titles, including four US Open titles and three Wimbledon titles, as well as 10 Grand Slam doubles titles. Widely regarded as one of the greatest doubles players and Davis Cup competitors in history, McEnroe also served as captain of the U.S. Davis Cup team.

He is an Emmy-nominated commentator for CBS, NBC, BBC, ESPN and USA. John graduated from New York City’s Trinity School and attended Stanford University, winning an NCAA team and singles title his freshman year. He continues to live in New York City, where he has raised his 6 children.

Driven by a desire to make tennis accessible to every New York City child, regardless of financial circumstances, John partnered with SPORTIME to open the John McEnroe Tennis Academy in 2010 and founded the Johnny Mac Tennis Project (JMTP), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, soon after. Through JMTP’s Tennis Pathway to Success®, young people are given the opportunity to discover their potential through tennis while developing the confidence, problem-solving skills and self-discipline that support success both on and off the court.

Patrick grew up in Douglaston, NY and trained in the New York area. As a junior, he reached the semifinals of Wimbledon and the US Open boys' singles in 1983. Patrick then partnered Luke Jensen to win the French Junior doubles and the USTA Boys' 18 National and Clay Court titles in 1984. He made his first impact on the professional tour that same year, teaming up with his brother, John, to win the doubles title at Richmond, Virginia.

Patrick won the Men's Doubles Gold medal at the 1987 Pan American Games with Jensen, and as team captain, helped lead Stanford University to NCAA team championships in 1986 and 1988. He graduated from Stanford in 1988 with a degree in Political Science, and then joined the professional tennis tour. On the tour, Patrick won one singles title and 16 doubles titles, including the 1989 French Open Men's Doubles title, during his 10‐year professional career, and achieved career‐high rankings of World No. 28 in singles and World No. 3 in doubles.

After retiring from the tour in 1998, Patrick had a successful run as U.S. Davis Cup captain, the longest tenured captain in U.S. history, winning the cup in 2007. After leaving his Davis Cup role in 2010, McEnroe focused on his television commentary work, and also served as the General Manager of Player Development for the USTA until mid-2015. Patrick joined Sportime and JMTA in 2017.

Executive Director

Ryann Cutillo joined the Johnny Mac Tennis Project as Executive Director in January of 2022. She leads the organization’s strategy, fundraising, operations and programs. Born and raised on Long Island, NY, Ryann was ranked in the top 15 nationally and #1 in the Eastern section in every age division. She won two New York State championships before playing Division I tennis at Wake Forest University, where she served as team captain for two years, won over 100 career matches and was named to the All-ACC Academic team.

After graduating in 2012 with a BA in Psychology, Ryann built a career in business development and operations across the sports, digital media, and technology industries.

Director of Operations & Community Relations

Lisa grew up on Long Island, NY, where she began playing tennis at age 5. As a junior, she was consistently ranked among the top 10 in the Eastern Section and top 150 nationally. She went on to play Division I tennis at Bucknell University, where she captained the women’s tennis team, competed at the top of the singles and doubles lineups, and graduated with the 10th most wins in program history. In 2018, she earned a BA in Sociology and French and received the Bradley N. Tufts Award for outstanding athletic achievement and contributions to Bucknell Athletics.

Following several years working in digital marketing, Lisa earned her MS in Sports Management from Columbia University before joining JMTP in 2023. Lisa oversees programming, partnerships, and initiatives that expand access to tennis and create opportunities for young athletes across New York City.

Scholarship Program Manager

Originally from western Massachusetts, Julian discovered tennis in high school after an injury shifted his focus from baseball. He quickly developed a passion for the sport and has remained actively involved ever since, coaching young players, competing in USTA leagues, and advocating for greater access to tennis in under-resourced communities. Graduating with a BA in Sociology from Trinity College (CT) in 2020, Julian brings over five years of experience in nonprofit and workforce development, having led strategic partnerships for multiple organizations to expand opportunities for underserved youth. He joined the JMTP team in 2025 as their Scholarship Program Manager, where he works closely with students, families, coaches, and staff to ensure scholarship athletes have the resources and support they need to thrive on and off the court.

Community Program Coordinator

Raised in Far Rockaway, Queens, NY, Julian was introduced to tennis through a community tennis program at the age of 7. It was there that he fell in love with the game, spending his summers developing his skills and deepening his connection to the sport. In high school, Julian expanded his involvement in tennis by competing year-round and beginning his coaching journey. Throughout his career, Julian has been committed to introducing tennis to young people in under-resourced communities. Julian took a detour to further his experience by spending time in the Midwest, where he helped build and grow a grassroots community of tennis players at a club, before returning back to NYC in 2022. He joined the JMTP coaching team in fall 2024, and became a full-time member of the staff in winter 2026. Julian is a certified PTR Level 2 Coach and Coach Developer. He is passionate about increasing diversity and inclusion in tennis, and believes the sport can serve as a powerful vehicle for self-discovery, problem solving, and teamwork.
