Photographers-in-training capture annual JMTP charity event
This summer Sportime and the Johnny Mac Tennis Project partnered with the New York City Department of Probation to provide a unique opportunity for members of its Neighborhood Opportunity Network (NeON) program.
At our 4th Annual Johnny Mac Tennis Project Celebrity Pro-Am in Amagansett, New York, an event organized each year to raise funds to support tennis scholarships and community programs, we hosted a special group of photographers who participate in NeON.
The NeON program is an innovative model of community-based learning and skills development offered to participants regardless of their justice involvement. NeON photographers participate in a citywide workshop and receive professional photography training in classes that teach the history of photography, technical skills, and the art of visual storytelling.
While in Amagansett, NeON students practiced their craft in a fun-filled, live-action tennis setting with John and many special guests.
We thank the NYC Department of Probation for its partnership, and the wonderful NeON photographers we had the pleasure of meeting this summer. We look forward to working together again soon!
