Co-Director, JMTA and SPORTIME RI
Lawrence, a native New Yorker, is recognized as one of the United States’ top developmental coaches and he is justifiably most proud of his students who have won numerous USTA National Junior Championships and 20 USTA Eastern Year-End Sportsmanship Awards. Named the USTA/Long Island Region Tennis Professional of the Year in 2006 and the USTA/Eastern Section Tennis Professional of the Year in 2013, Lawrence is a recognized expert in the field of talent development. As Noah Rubin’s personal coach since the age of 7, Lawrence has seen this JMTA player achieve a career-best #6 ITF junior world ranking in 2013, joining the United States Davis Cup Team, as a practice player in January 2014 before going on to win the Junior Wimbledon Championship five months later. As a coach who has trained more ranked juniors than anyone in the history of the USTA/Eastern Section, we are proud that Lawrence is an important member of our JMTP team, helping to identify players with athletic ability destined to join JMTP’s Pathway to Success through Tennis.
